Gizmo Dorks 1.75mm HIPS Filament 1kg / 2.2lb for 3D Printers, White

Gizmo Dorks
We provide the highest quality 3D printing materials such as ABS, PLA, HIPS, PVA, and more. Our filaments are run with tight tolerances. There are no air bubbles or oily residues. Every filament comes loaded on a durable, hard plastic spool, not a cheap, flimsy cardboard spool.

HIPS, High Impact Polystyrene, is very similar to ABS. They share a lot of the same characteristics and qualities. However, HIPS is used with different solvents versus ABS. Limonene is used with HIPS instead of Acetone for ABS. Since Limonene does not affect ABS, HIPS is commonly used as a supporting material. HIPS is versatile, economical, and impact resistant.

Compatible with RepRap, Makerbot, UP!, Lulzbot, Afinia, Solidoodle, MakerGear, Printrbot LC, and more!

FAQ?
Is the spindle hole large enough to fit my Makerbot printer?
Yes! Our spindle holes are large enough to fit the Makerbot printers. You don’t have to worry about fabricating a spindle extension any longer. *NOTE, these spools will not fit inside of the new Makerbot 5th generation printer drawers. You can still use these spools and feed the filament directly through the top of the printer.

What are some printing tips?
Please use Kapton tape or 3M blue tape. Please use in well ventilated areas.

What other colors are available?
HIPS comes in a variety of different vibrant colors, 12 different options total.

Gizmo Dorks 3D Printing Platform Blue Tape 10″ x 10″ (10 Pack)

Gizmo Dorks blue painter’s tape is the go-to and cost effective way of covering your 3D printer bed plate. Plastic filament such as ABS or PLA stick well to this tape while also being forgiving enough to let go when your print is finished. The tape is easy to apply and remove, with strong adhesion. The tape is 6.25 inches wide, so you don’t have to worry about stringing small 1 inch wide tapes together to form zig-zag rows. For most printer beds, you’ll only need one sheet. Say goodbye to the lines on the print bottoms from multiple pieces of tape. There are a host of different sizes to choose ranging from 6×6 to 12×12 and a few sizes in between. These sheets can be easily trimmed with scissors as well.

Product Features

  • 3D printer blue tape is designed to create an optimal adhesion for the first layer of your print
  • Print most 3D filament types such as ABS and PLA with easy removal of the printed part
  • Printed parts come off cleanly without any messy or ugly lines on the bottom of the print
  • Easily apply the precut sheets to the printing platform and use a straight edge to lay down the tape without any bubbles
  • These 3D printing blue tape sheets come in a pack of 10 and are 10 x 10 inches

Gizmo Dorks PEI Sheet 8″ x 8″ 1 mm 3D Printer Build Surface Ultem 1000

PEI (Polyetherimide) sheets provide a 3D printing build surface that requires no tape, slurry, or adhesive. ABS and PLA both stick extremely well to the surface, which eliminates the need for support rafts used for better adhesion.

How to Use:

Cut the PEI sheet to size by scoring with a hobby knife. There are two methods to attaching the PEI to your print bed. The first method is to just clamp the sheet to the print bed using binder clips. We find that 2 on each side works great. The second method, get 3M 468MP Transfer Tape and use it to stick the PEI to the print bed.

Once the PEI sheet is attached, re-level your print bed and you are ready to go!

It helps to wipe the surface down with isopropyl alcohol, methyl alcohol, or soap in between prints. This will ensure the PEI is clean, and help adhesion. Light sanding with 5000 grit paper will also give the PEI sheet more life.

Product Features

  • MADE IN THE USA: Single 1mm thick sheet installs quickly on top of existing flat build platforms (e.g. borosilicate glass)
  • ABS and PLA filaments (along with many other materials) print directly on to PEI surface without the need for additional adhesives, tapes, or slurry.
  • REMOVE FILM FROM BOTH SIDES BEFORE USING: Blue protective film guards against scratches during shipping and handling.
  • Reuse for multiple prints, just wipe down with isopropyl alcohol between prints for best results
  • Sheet can be easily cut down to desired size by scoring with a utility knife

Gizmo Dorks Polyester Film PET Tape for 3D Printers and Printing, 9 Inches x 100 Feet

Gizmo Dorks PET tape is the premier tape adhesive to use on heated build platforms. PET tape, which is made out of Polyester film, is used on 3D beds because of its ability to withstand high temperatures that are sometimes required depending on the plastic used. ABS filament, for example, adheres particularly well to PET tape, maybe even better than the traditional Kapton tape. Heat transfers particularly well through PET tape making it a perfect complement to ABS which requires a heated build platform, typically around 110°C. PET tape, which is typically green, is also more durable than Kapton tape which results in less tears. Green PET tape is easily removed without leaving behind any residue. The tape has a max upper temperature of 220°C.

  • Dimensions: 9 inches wide x 100 feet long
  • Polyester film layer: 1 mil thick
  • Silicone adhesive: 1 mil thick
  • Total thickness: 2 mil

Dry Application
The dry method involves using a flat edge such as a ruler or a credit card to slowly peel and apply the tape while using the straight edge to keep the tape free from bubbles.

Wet Application
The wet method is similar to the dry method but involves spraying some soapy water underneath the PET tape. Remove the liquid by squeegee or a straight flat edge such as a ruler. This will also remove any air bubbles. The biggest benefit to the wet method is that you can re-position the tape while it is wet because the liquid allows you to easily slide the tape around. Let the PET tape fully dry before printing.

Product Features

  • Premium grade polyester PET tape for 3D printing
  • Excellent adhesion to many 3d filament types such as PLA and ABS
  • PET tape can be used for many 3D print cycles with greater durability than Kapton
  • PET film layer is 1 mil thick
  • Long lasting PET tape roll that is 9 inches wide by 100 feet long
